Ruth Buzzi, 1936-2025
The much beloved actress, Ruth Buzzi, passed away on May 1. Along with all her other roles, she was the voice of Mama Bear on the Berenstain Bears CBS Saturday morning animated series in 1985-1987. My parents, Stan and Jan, loved her performances on Owen and Martin’s Laugh-In and were delighted when she was cast as Mama Bear. She was perfect for the role and I will always hear her characterization in my mind when I think of Mama talking. She will be much missed.
